***Going forward, I will be publishing fewer articles than I usually do. In the coming months, I have to focus on taking my AWS and Microsoft Azure Certification tests as well as finishing my Bachelors in Cloud Computing. So yeah, I’m going to be busy.
It’s here you will find my personal writing and my love for the spoken word. I’m a generalist style writer which means I don’t have a specific topic niche. I write about the things that I’m passionate about.
However, in general, I focus mainly on social issues and the human condition. While I occasionally venture…
“Petty Officer Cotton, I have a question for you: What do you want?”
My therapist asked me this question one year ago — right before the start of the pandemic. At that time, I was visiting him on a weekly basis. I was in a rough place during that time in my life. I was depressed, battling night terrors, and figuring out my place in life.
Naturally, this became a good reason to go to therapy.
“Well I want to do something that makes me happy. (Obviously). I’m not sure what that is yet. Usually, work makes me happy.”
“It takes a village to raise a child”
— African Proverb —
I owe my mother more than I can ever repay her. Without her, I wouldn’t know the definition of life.
That might sound a bit hyperbolic, but it’s not far from the truth.
Growing up in deep south Texas under her wing, she always reminded me how precious life truly is. As a single mother, she could have given up and chosen her own individuality over her son’s needs. Prior to my birth, she had a miscarriage. When I came along, it was with a man she wasn’t…
“Sensual is everything that refers to the delight of the senses. And that’s what artists do, is stimulate the senses in any possible way.”
— Singer/Songwriter, Shakira —
One of the most underrated parts of sexual attraction is everything beyond the physical. Don’t get me wrong, physical attraction and leaving a stellar first impression will go a long way to creating a heated bedroom. But everyone’s fixation on physical beauty can feel so…dull?
Like a barbie doll or action figure, there’s no passion or energy behind it. Physical attraction is great, but there needs to be more. …
“The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.” — African Proverb
When I was growing up through high school, I experienced one of the most significant shifts in my life. Not only did I feel myself gravitating more towards personal independence, but I was also reaching for something else. Like a child screaming outwards when no one is around, I desperately wanted to be heard. Or more specifically, I wanted to be felt. …
“Some kids are born lucky. I was lucky to be born.”
Zuko, from “Avatar The Last Airbender”
Have you ever felt so angry at someone just for existing? It’s not even their fault — you just hate the fact they are there. It’s not about who they are, but what they are.
When I attended middle school in deep South Texas, there were three education levels.
“A nation will not survive morally or economically when so few have so much and so many have so little.”
— United States Senator, Supporter of Social Welfare,
“Socialism violates at least three of the Ten Commandments: It turns government into God, it legalizes thievery and it elevates covetousness. Discussions of income inequality, after all, aren’t about prosperity but about petty spite. Why should you care how much money I make, so long as you are happy?”
— American Commentator and Media Host, Supporter of Classic Capitalism,
For many people, homeownership is a lifelong dream. The…
“And you got to have your little Miss Saigon cosplay, so why don’t we call it a draw.”
— Bojack Horseman, A quote from Diane’s (A Vietnamese character) bad date with a White American.
Yellow Fever. Asian Persuasion. Bad Yellowbone. Dragon lady. Submissive. Tiger Mom. Geisha.
Throughout my life as a man, I have heard these words in one form or another. Even at a young age, I had already developed an understanding of what these words meant and the underlying definitions behind them. I have seen other men go coo-coo for cocoa puffs over the sight of Asian women.
Back in 2020, I invested in Bitcoin right before the pandemic struck and rearranged life as I knew it.
And if you know anything about Bitcoin, it did really well for itself.
In fact, Bitcoin did so well, it became the best performing asset of 2020. The little-crypto-that-could managed to outpace the gains of the much-loved stock market, and even gold and crude oil. Bitcoin’s meteoric rise in value has forced the world to reconsider the true power of cryptocurrency. It’s no longer a weird digital plaything for silicon valley nerds.
Love it or hate it, Bitcoin is here to…
A couple of years ago, I had to cut off someone extremely close to me.
Actually, it’s my ex.
We have a long, complicated history together that started as lovers and evolved into a weird on-again, off-again frenemy relationship.
We were best friends during the worst of times, and we were ruthless during the best of times.
Some common occurrences include blowing up each other’s phones, slights that were adding up way too fast, and becoming a loud presence within each other lives.
If you’re reading this thinking we weren’t very compatible, you’re right. The problem being we were too…
