Don’t Quarantine Your Heart
In defense of hoping for love during this period of social-distance
Where Is The Love?
With enforced long-distance relationships, I do acknowledge that there is a high-chance that it could fail. With two people being compelled to stay away from each other, it’s easier than ever to stray from each other. I won’t deny that it’s a possibility. That’s a hard pill to swallow for regular long-distance relationships, but made exponentially more difficult with the added layer of stress.
Likewise, being quarantined together is also more difficult than usual. Due to being glued at the hip thanks to local lockdowns, there is a whole new level of stress that a vast majority people simply aren’t accustomed to. Before this whole pandemic started, you at least had the option of using work as a way of decompressing from your relationships. Or maybe you would venture to your local bar and party your problems away. However, now you must face your significant other, and any lingering home issues that you may have been running away from, square in the eyes. Every. Single. Day.
So yeah, things are different now. We’re more stressed out than usual, we’re more paranoid than normal, and many people are desperately seeking an escape that, for now, doesn’t exist.
