Treat Everyday like it’s Valentine’s Day

Acts of love can, and should, be celebrated everyday

In a prior relationship, I discovered firsthand how difficult it can be to have your acts of service rejected. It can be crushing to dream up romantic ideations for your partner only to watch them die in front of you.

To be fair, we were terribly mismatched in our values and thus we often clashed in our display of love languages. There was physical attraction but she was too aloof to ever fully feel comfortable in my showy displays of love. From roses to having food-at-the-ready, I enjoyed displaying my affection.

The power of “Acts of Service”

In Gary Chapman’s powerful book “The 5 Love Languages”, Acts of service is defined as doing something for your spouse (partner) that you know they would like for you to do.

Acts of Service can happen on a micro level:

— It can be as simple as washing the dishes and taking care of the house while you’re partner is away from the work.
